Digital Licensing: If you do use anything created by anyone else, you will most like need to get written approval for using the content in whole or part if you are going to sell the product or put it up online. Educators and press have some dispensation depending on the circumstances.
Digital Rights Management (DRM) a little electronic “tag” on most audio files that prevents the user from copying the file
ISRC (International Standard Recording Code) is a number assigned to each recording of the song so it can be tracked.
Nielsen SoundScan is an information system that tracks sales of music and music video products throughout the United States and Canada. Sales data from point-of-sale cash registers is collected weekly from over 14,000 retail, mass merchant and non-traditional (on-line stores, venues, etc.) outlets. Weekly data is compiled and made available every Wednesday. Nielsen SoundScan is the sales source for the Billboard music charts.
U.P.C. Barcode
The bar code on a retail product is a Universal Product Code or U.P.C. It is created using a unique GS1 Company Prefix that identifies your company as the manufacturer or distributor of the product. GS1 US leads its North American membership with true global representation in the GS1 System. Fees range from $150 to $1500 per GS1 Company Prefix.
